International law firm Pinsent Masons has been named Legal Business magazine’s Law Firm of the Year for the second time in the past four years.
The accolade follows a rigorous judging process involving several leading General Counsel and various industry experts.
The firm was recognised for its consistently strong financial performance, international expansion, client satisfaction and demonstrable commitment to doing business in the right way and for the right reasons.
Over the past 12 months the firm has been at the forefront of collaborative efforts to: improve wellbeing, through the pioneering Mindful Business Charter; promote greater gender diversity by engaging with the authorities to improve the quality of gender paygap reporting within professional services; and champion greater inclusion of the LGBT community around the world.
The judges said, "Pinsents is no slouch in financial performance terms... but it is committed to being judged by a broader set of yardsticks".
The firm also picked up the Energy and Infrastructure Team of the Year award alongside Heathrow and BCLP for the trio’s ground-breaking, technology-enabled collaboration to support the delivery of a third runway at the airport. The project is expected to generate £187bn of economic benefit for the UK economy in addition to 180,000 jobs.
Richard Foley, Senior Partner of Pinsent Masons, says:
"I am so pleased that we have been able to secure this important accolade for a second time. It’s a direct result and ringing endorsement of the dedication, commitment and sheer hard work of all of our 3,500 people. It is also really pleasing that the judges saw fit to endorse the wider interpretation we hold of what it really means to be a market-leading firm. The world has changed and profitability can no longer be the only measure of success in our industry. We have sought to expand and grow profitably, but to do so in a way that recognises the wider value and impact that we as a business can drive in collaboration with the clients and communities we work with. I really hope that, if this award achieves one thing, it is catalyse a wider debate around what success metrics the profession should really be measured against."

Earlier this year the firm was named the most inclusive employer in the influential Stonewall Workplace Equality Index and was recently ranked among the top ten UK employers for family-friendly working practices.
